List-Making Monday: Movies!

Let's continue this theme... for today's list, I'm going to list the movies I've seen recently, cellphone disruptions and all (ha-ha), and which movies I'm looking forward to seeing soon.  Mr. Lock and I really love going to the theatre, and I received some gift cards for Cineplex as Christmas gifts, so we've been putting them to good use.  I also collect Scene points, and tend to have many free movies throughout the year.

Seen Recently (I only went back as far as November-ish)

  • The Muppets
  • Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1 (I knoow...)
  • New Years Eve
  • Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
  • The Adventures of Tintin
  • Beauty and the Beast (in Disney Digital 3D)
  • Super 8 (rented -- this was actually a pretty decent movie)
  • Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
  • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Want to See (whether in theatres or rented)

Definite Rentals I want to see (not in theatres anymore)

  • Water for Elephants (because I just read the story this past summer and loved the novel)
  • 50/50

I'm certain there are other films coming that I want to see but this is what I can think of right now... oh, fine, in November you know I'll be there watching Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part II.... but c'mon... when you've witnessed the whole train wreck up until that point is IS hard to tear yourself away from the carnage.

I'm also a huge fan of watching The Academy Awards every year, so I do like to try to see some of the nominated films (the announcement of nominees happens next Tuesday).  My family and I have a tradition of voting for the winners and placing a $2 bet each (most correct answers wins the whole pot), so it's pretty serious business.

Seen any good movies lately yourself?  Do you prefer seeing movies at the theatre or watching them at home?

  1. I'm going to a movie this Friday night w/ hubby and cannot wait! Don't know what we're seeing, but I do know that we have the BEST babysitter in the world!

I want to see the Baby Documentary - I've heard it's really good.

    1. There are a few good options out right now! The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was good, but has some VERY disturbing scenes... just a heads up. I only wanted to see it because I've read the book series.

I kind of want to see that Baby documentary too! That's the one that was out a few years ago, right? Or is this a new one that's coming?

You DO have a pretty good baby-sitter! SO TRUE! ;-)

  2. There are so many movies I want to see. We rarely go out to the movies, we usually do movie night at home. So I also have a big list.

    1. I really enjoy movie nights at home. I somewhat prefer it to the theatre, but lately (with a theatre so close to my condo, too), my BF and I have really been taking advantage of "Cheap Tuesday" and have been seeing a lot of movies in theatres as a date night activity.

I went through a long stint of renting movies a couple of years ago, but lately it's been a marathon of theatre viewings instead, haha. I'm a little sad that there aren't many movie rental locations anymore.

    1. I'm not a LoTR fan, so I'm not really that eager to see The Hobbit... though I might give it a shot.

I'm REALLY excited for The Avengers. I love all of the movies in the franchise so far. So awesome.

  4. We went to the movies over Christmas and that was the first time in two years. It just adds up and seems so expensive. Though, I do want to go back and see Beauty and the Beast 3D.

  5. Ohhhh! I want to see Water for Elephants!

Not to embarrass myself here, but I love the Twilight Saga and have a crush on RobPattz! When I was on bed rest for my high risk pregnancy, my friends got me the Twilight series. They thought it would last me until I delivered my baby. Nope. I read the entire series in less than a week!!!

Being an English Lit Major, I realize it's not mind blowing literature, but sometimes one just needs "fluff" :)

    Great post, by the way!

  7. Love loved Breaking Dawn and the whole Twilight Series. I stubmled upon Twilight by accident and was hooked after my first 10 minutes!

Mission Impossible was really good too! I liked Super 8 too and look forward seeing American Reunion.

Since we have a young daughter we do a lot of movie nights at home!
